Is HIFU a Realistic Option for You?

HIFU skin tightening is an FDA approved treatment for improving the appearance of lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin. HIFU uses high intensity focused ultrasound waves to ablate bad cells and encourage collagen production resulting in fewer lines/ wrinkles and firmer skin.

The high intensity focused ultrasound waves rapidly heat up the skin layers deep below the surface layer. Once they reach the target temperature, cell changes begin, and collagen production is stimulated. This treatment is non-invasive and the best results you can get without undergoing a surgical facelift.

This treatment is not recommended for those under the age of thirty as their skin is quite healthy and results will be minimal. This is also not recommended for those over 65-70 who have extremely loose, crepe paper-like skin. Not only is their skin too delicate (thin), but extremely loose skin, does not contain enough natural collagen in which the HIFU treatments would be able to stimulate. Those with active psoriasis, dermatitis, or cystic acne within the treatment area should also avoid this treatment. The ideal client is between the ages of 30-65 with mild to moderate skin laxity.

Specific areas on the body can be addressed as well as the skin on the face and neck. Keep in mind, if you have unwanted layers of fat, it must be eliminated/ lessened significantly or results in any HIFU skin tightening treatment will not be as effective, if at all.

One to three treatments are recommended in the first year at least 1-3 months apart to achieve desired results and then one treatment is recommended each year to maintain results. Physical activity and diet must not negatively change within the treatment schedule. No matter how much we all hope for a miracle or a quick fix, this is not a miracle cure to aging. However, this FDA approved treatment is the safest and best alternative to surgery.

Why do you need to get a treatment each year? We are not getting any younger. Our skin continues to change and age. Just as keeping one's body in a physically good condition requires proper nutrition and exercise, the results you get from HIFU treatments also require maintenance.
